iRide Africa rides an E-Bike
20 August 2010
The good folks at
Thula lula loaned me this funky little E-Bike for the week. Yes, an electric bicycle. You can pedal it just like a normal bicycle and then if you want a little bit of assistance just twist the throttle and the electric motor can carry you silently away for a claimed distance of about 40 kilometers. Basically, Thula Lula are trying to convince South African’s that this can be the new mode of transport for a large percentage of our country, and I’d have to agree that it certainly must be one of the smartest and cheapest ways to get around!

I just found this photo on facebook and thought it’d make a good point to anyone who says that Womens road racing in South Africa isn’t competitive enough!
Thats Jennie(our lead road guide) on the right going for gold in the ‘09 EP Herald cycle tour. And yes, she got it!
Exploring season is here
16 August 2010
August and September are normally the wettest months in Cape Town. Bad news for us, but good news for you. We use our ‘quiet months’ to the maximum and start scouting for new routes for next season’s rides.

How cool is this?! Camera’s have been setup at certain spots in the Western Cape to help clarify how many Leopards there are in the area
These photos were from a camera at Lourensford and I heard that a mountain biker spotted a Leopard at Welvanpas trails not long ago.
Would so love to see one of these magnifcent creatures from the seat of my bike!
