Oak Valley:
Trails are all in good condition though the cows seem to be enjoying them as well so at times it is very rough and full of stinky ‘landmines’.
The singletrack section through the first pine trees is no longer there and neither are the pines! There is now a detour and a new black section of singletrack has been cut further along which is nice and narrow and rather fun-still has to bed in a bit and watch out in the wet as it can be a bit slippery.
There is also a new loop of singletrack just after this new section, which is bumpy and loose (don’t attempt to use the berms there yet-you’ll fall right through them!). While we love any type of singletrack, in our opinion, this section could do with a bit more flow (higher speeds and more gradual corners).
On the next slowish downhill section some berms have been improved and made bigger while others still need a bit more work. The one at the bottom is perfect and hopefully the others will get bigger (especially towards the end of the berms where they are used most!)
Once you’ve reached the top, all the rest of the singletrack through the wattle and next to the river has held up brilliantly and is still the best flowing trail section in the area in our opinion.
Well done and thanks to the folks at Oak Valleyand we are forever in hope that we can start getting some singletrack into the real wilderness areas soon?!
