The team from Brait were treated to some perfect winter weather in the town of Greyton over the past weekend. While Cape Town was experiencing a bit of blustery, cold weather we were going through a basic skills clinic focussing on body positioning, cornering, hill climbs and the way to ride through the ever-present sandy section -all in brilliant sunshine!

The afternoon was spent chugging up Greytons steep climbs and happily bombing down them again as we inched our way to Genadendal. The climbs in this area are particularly vicious and we hope that one day we’ll have easier options for going around these hills! After about 30km or so of rolling hills, jeep track and a good selection of singletrack the group decided to start heading home.
With our supper and drinks well earned, we headed back towards Greyton for a night at the Post House. The group certainly have the idea of ‘work hard, play hard’ down pat! It didn’t help that Greyton seemed to be buzzing-the pubs were full and energy was high. Very surprising for such a tiny village!
After a few too many Napier lagers, I eventually got some rest and I think only the quality of beer helped in me not having a hangover the following morning.
The 2nd day was spent on the more sedate district roads surrounding Greyton. We had a fantastic ride in perfect conditions-sunshine and a slight chill to the air. We ‘ended’ the ride at the beautiful Lismore Wine Estate
where we could savour the wines of this small piece of heaven before getting back in the van and heading home. Well, it turns out that the guys from Brait like to ride! They all decided that they’d prefer to cycle back to Greyton instead- good going!

The local mountain bike club is really active and full of super helpful people so if you’re ever in the area and don’t know where to ride look them up. Corne of Rock Hopper adventures is super busy building trails all over the show and there are big plans ahead for future races in the near vicinity-watch this space for more info!

Looks like an awesome adventure. Great photos.
