August and September are normally the wettest months in Cape Town. Bad news for us, but good news for you. We use our ‘quiet months’ to the maximum and start scouting for new routes for next season’s rides.
Last week I was out in the Franschhoek area on the lookout for dirt roads and jeep track that take visitors into remote areas and the area did not disappoint! I have yet to check whether we are allowed to cycle in the area but if we are, then an inspiring 30-40km route awaits iRiders of the future, consisting of mainly tough off road riding with mountains towering above you on all sides.(and a bonus 5km of contoured singletrack!). Scroll through some of the photos below. My battery ran out before I got into the real wilderness…
You’ll notice in the photos that we are not having much of a winter here - as always, I recommend that you visit us in the winter for the best riding weather and conditions!
